Spider Design Beaded Barrette
Item: JC-011-C-SP-BAR

This barrette features a porcelain focal cab with a Mississippian Period spider design that was transferred to the cab and then hand painted with china paint..  The cab is bezeled with seed beads and the spider web design is fully beaded with size 15 japanese seed beads.  The spider web design with the cab is backed in leather with a metal spring barrette attached under the leather.

The Mound Builders of the Mississippian Period from around 800-1600AD used this spider design on gorgets, and carved stone tablets.  The Moundbuilder society was a very large social complex consisting of numerous 'cities' and cultural complexes that ranged from Ohio all the way south to Florida and as far West as St. Louis.
